Physiological cross protection in Danio species

 

Our studies take a comparative approach, focusing on a group species from a single genus of fish (Danio spp). This Danio comparative model was chosen because we have insight into species differences in hypoxia and HEA tolerance, they have a well-described phylogeny, and ecological information is available about their natural habitat. This system is used to identify the underlying mechanisms that contribute to the variation in both hypoxia and HEA tolerance.
